A 14 year old girl was killed in an accident which occurred on the route 122 at the height of Saint-Edmond-de-Grantham, near Drummondville, early Friday afternoon .
The victim was a passenger in the back seat, passenger side of a Mazda vehicle not driving her older sister. For a reason which could be due to inexperience and a particularly slippery road, the driver lost control of the car and ended up perpendicular to the taxiway.
A white vehicle that brought in reverse could do nothing to avoid the collision, striking the Mazda in the right rear door and sending it directly into the ditch.
The violence of the impact, the vehicle was significantly deformed. We had to call firefighters the fire department of Saint-Germain-de-Grantham and their Jaws of Life to extricate the driver, the victim and their sister, who was in the passenger seat at the front, their metal trap.
The two oldest were conducted at the Holy Cross Drummondville hospital to treat injuries, but we do not fear for their lives.
The driver of the second vehicle suffered nervous shock when she learned that the collision had caused the death of a teenager.
At the time of this writing, investigators directed by collision of the Sûreté du Québec were still on Route 122 in order to shed light on the circumstances of the accident. According to witnesses, the artery was cleared of snow, but it failed to spread abrasives, which would have turned into a real ice rink.
