The mayor of Montreal Denis Coderre was officially inaugurated yesterday evening the ” large terrace red “, an initiative to attract customers in the rue Saint-Denis during a project of large-scale construction to replace a water pipe dating back to 1880.
Until November, Montrealers will be able to bask on the 30 picnic tables, 141 tables, bistro, 121 benches or 10 hammocks for the occasion between the Mont-Royal avenue and Roy street.
The preparatory work will take place this fall in the area between Duluth and Marie-Anne. In the spring, four of the six lanes will be under construction in this portion of the rue Saint-Denis. The terrace will then be reconfigured to create two large squares upstream and downstream on the east side.
In the summer of 2016, the two-seater will follow the site, who will move to the west side.
