A runner of 34 years died Sunday during Montreal marathon.
The American, who was entered in the half-marathon, went into cardiac arrest on Île Notre-Dame, between the sixth and the eleventh kilometer.
“When we arrived, she was in cardiac arrest,” confirmed Stéphane Smith, spokesman for Urgences-Santé. “We tried to resuscitate her, but there was no change in his condition.”
A man in his forties also went into cardiac arrest at the finish line this time. He was resuscitated and transported to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
In total, Urgences-Santé had to perform 16 medical procedures with transportation for various injuries.
