(Gatineau) Senator Patrick Brazeau receive an absolute discharge from the court, as proposed by the Crown and defense last month.
The Valmont Beaulieu judge ultimately accepted the proposal Wednesday at the Gatineau courthouse
Last September, Mr. Brazeau pleaded guilty to assault and simple possession of cocaine, and acquitted on a charge of sexual assault.
“If he absolution, it is likely to return to the Senate,” had then argued the defense lawyer, Gerard Larocque.
Senator shall, in another case still in Gatineau, answer a charge of custody and control of a vehicle while impaired. This case will be another request at a later date.
Patrick Brazeau is also accused of fraud and breach of trust in the Senate. He will undergo trial in spring 2016, at the Ottawa Courthouse
