A 10 year old child who was walking near the downtown Chicoutimi in slippers and pajamas was picked up by police from the Public Security Saguenay (SPS) to 3 h 30, Wednesday morning.
Young left his foster home in Chicoutimi-Nord after having a dispute with the family. It is a citizen who contacted police after seeing the child wandering in the Tadoussac Boulevard area. A taxi driver, Steeve Tremblay, who saw the young near the intersection of Sainte-Anne street and boulevard Saguenay, remained with him until the police arrived.
The taxi driver had to engage in the ramp of the Saguenay boulevard leading to the bridge Dubuc when he saw the boy sitting in front of a sign. “I started backwards, and I went to see the boy,” said the driver of the company Taxis united Chicoutimi, Wednesday evening, in an interview with The Daily.
The boy was wearing a hat and a coat over her pajamas. He did not suffer from the cold, was calm and did not seem to hurt. Embarrassed, he first replied to the driver that he would find a home to go to. “I told him that I could not leave him there. I could not leave it like that. He did not want too much, but he ended up sitting back, “he recounts.
Steeve Tremblay had seen a patrol car that had just intercepted a car on the Saguenay Boulevard, not far from there. He headed for the police, who asked him to park nearby before going to meet her and take care of the child.
Everything happened quickly, and the child and the man did not exchange what had brought the boy outside. “I suspected that there was something that was wrong, however, tip the driver. It is not normal to find a youth that age out at 3am. We do not know who he might have fallen, “said the driver who works nights and practicing this job for four years.
The DPJ advised
PR manager at the SPS, the agent Bruno Cormier said the youth was taken care of, then returned home. The Directorate of Youth Protection (DPJ) has been notified.
The Youth Centre is now grouped under the integrated university Centre for Health and Social Services (CIUSSS) of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. Communications Advisor, Karine Gagnon could not provide details about the child’s fate and the intervention of the DPJ.
“We can not talk about it. As it touches the record of a user, it is subject to rules of confidentiality, “she said.
