The Conservatives are in mourning. Conservative MP for Medicine Hat Cardston-Warner, Jim Hillyer, has died at the age of 41. He was found dead in his office on Parliament Hill this morning.
Mr. Hyllier, who had already survived leukemia in 2003, was elected for the first time the federal election of 2011. He was re-elected in 2015 with support verging 69% of the vote.
Tuesday, Conservative MP from Alberta had complained of suffering some discomfort. Mr. Hyllier survived by his wife and four children Livi, London, Taylor, Nation and Asia.
The interim leader of the Conservative Party, Rona Ambrose, said he was deeply saddened by the loss of his colleague.
“Jim was a valuable member and worker of the Conservative team, and a passionate advocate for those he represented. In addition, he was a husband and a devoted father, and a man of faith with deep convictions. I pray that his faith and his family help it in this very difficult time, “Ambrose said in a press release.
“On behalf of the official opposition and the Conservative Party of Canada, I offer my deepest condolences to Jim’s wife, Livi, and his children as they cross this painful loss,” she added .
