Leaders of Jonquiere Elites have probably smiled Monday, taking knowledge of the MVPs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for the last week of the regular season. Two former players of this midget AAA team, Samuel Girard and Jordan Martel, are among the winners.
Girard was treated to the first star of the week. In two games, the defender of the Shawinigan Cataractes totaled seven points, including two goals. He reached a career high Saturday, amassing five points in a 7-6 shootout loss at the hands of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.
This good weekend allowed the defender robervalois finished first in scoring among all the defenders of the Canadian Hockey League with 74 points.
For his part, Jordan Martel inherited the third star. The striker who has just completed his first season with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar scored two goals and four assists in three parts. He enjoyed his second game of three career points Monday in a 7-3 win over the Sherbrooke Phoenix. Saturday, against the Chicoutimi Chicoutimi, he prepared the Drakkar winning goal in overtime.
The hockey Chicoutimi concluded his first season in the QMJHL with 18 points in 57 games.
The second star went to Reilly Pickard, goalkeeper Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
