A young man was seriously injured during a fight between several people Tuesday night in the borough of Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie in Montreal. The victim was stabbed in the upper body by a bladed weapon.
The attack occurred around 18h45 at the corner of St. Denis and Bellechasse, near Rosemont metro station, in the heart of the island. The victim was injured during a fight involving an unknown number of people. Lying on the ground near the street, the young man was conscious on arrival of the police. He lay in critical condition Tuesday night.
“In terms of suspects, no arrests have been made at this stage,” said Emran Abdullah, spokesman for the Department of the City of Montreal (SPVM). A large security perimeter was always erected around 21h on St. Denis street between Rosemont Boulevard and Bellachasse street. Investigators and forensic identification expert are on hand to shed light on the circumstances of the assault.
