Sam Hamad defended the cancellation of Quebec Days in Paris

ministre-travail-sam-hamad(Quebec) Cancellation of an important recruiting mission in Paris is a “purely administrative” decision, said Wednesday the Minister of Employment, Sam Hamad.

The Quebec Days were to be held Saturday and Sunday in the French capital. This event, which is held twice a year, allows Québec companies active in leading sectors to recruit staff.

Nearly 2,000 candidates were shortlisted to pass job interviews this weekend. Several companies had purchased airline tickets and booked hotel rooms to take part in the Days Quebec. That is why the decision of Quebec to cancel the event of the weekend was criticized by several participants.

Hamad ensures that there would be “inappropriate” to move forward in the wake of last Friday’s attacks. Especially since President Francois Hollande has declared a state of emergency, banning the blow of importance gatherings.

Minister denies yield to terrorist threats.

“Be careful, it’s part of the war against terrorists, he said. Be prepared and responsible, it’s part of the war against terrorists. One does not have to take risks for Quebecers. ”

It is unclear at present whether Quebec will reimburse the costs of transport and accommodation that companies have committed to participate in the event. The office of Mr. Hamad said it is too early to decide on that option.

Certainly, there will be other days Québec, Mr. Hamad said.

“We need immigrants, he has said. The objectives have not changed, the needs have not changed. It’s just a temporary halt in view of the critical situation in France. ”
