The former NBA star Lamar Odom, hospitalized after being found in a coma on Tuesday in a brothel in Nevada, slowly recovering but remains in intensive care unit at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, said the US media Sunday.
E! News, without citing sources, said on its website that the former basketball 35 years, ex-husband of Khloe Kardashian reality TV star, had managed to swallow and had been hoisted out of bed on a chair, for the first time since his admission.
According to the sheriff of Nye County, Sharon Wehrly, citing officers, Odom had used cocaine and substances developing sexual performance during his stay of several days in the brothel.
Hospital officials have refused to comment on the state of health of the former basketball player, who suffer brain damage.
Odom won two NBA titles with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2009 and 2010, and played his last game in 2013 for the Los Angeles Clippers.
He saw his popularity exploded when it appeared in a reality TV show featuring the Kardashian family, Khloe married in December 2010.
Spouses Odom became in turn the heroes of their own reality show, before divorcing in December 2013. At the time of his divorce, he was sentenced for drunk driving, and three years probation and treatment.
Odom’s personal life was marked by many tragedies. In particular, he was raised by his grandmother after his mother’s death and 12 years. In 2006, the New York native has also lost one of his three children with his first wife Liza Morales, a victim of cot death.
