Contract negotiations between Canadian and Alex Galchenyuk are in a truce, confirms the new advisor to the young striker.
In an email exchange with The Associated Press Wednesday, Pat Brisson has indicated that talks with general manager Marc Bergevin Habs resume later.
“I have had discussions with Marc. We will continue. I do not comment as negotiations records (contract), “said he briefly responded, when asked how talks were going.
Brisson acts as the advisor Galchenyuk for barely a month. The young US-Russian player has ended his long association with the former star player Igor Larionov, who is the business partner of the adviser Ian Pulver in the athletes Wills management company The Sports Group.
At the time of the break, indicated that Galchenyuk Larionov and his family did not accept the advice he lavished on them.
A Montreal newspaper subsequently reported that his father was too great an influence on his son – third player selected in the 2012 draft.
Brisson is brought into the picture to begin as negotiations with the Canadian. Galchenyuk, aged 21, has the free agent status with restrictions. Bargaining power is not strong because it can rely on the arbitration process. He will possibly accept a transition contract since Bergevin has little room for maneuver under the salary cap of $ 71 million US.
On July 1, a television network even announced that a deal was imminent.
In his third season in the NHL, Galchenyuk managed 20 goals and he amassed 26 assists in 80 games. He totaled 104 points, including 42 goals in 193 career games.
