The plasma donors in Sherbrooke and the region still missing the call by Hema Quebec in January to meet his needs.
At the opening of the donor Plasmavie Salon, which opened its doors in the new Complexe Le Baron, Hema Quebec hoped to recruit 1,000 donors by the end of January. But these are far fewer than expected, says Laurent Paul Ménard-, spokesman Héma Québec.
“Currently, we operate only at 56% capacity, he said. We have a processing capacity of 400 donors per week, but we have 230 donors. It is very far from our goal. That is why we once again appeal to the people of Sherbrooke, Magog and surrounding areas. ”
Hema Quebec is hard to explain the response of Sherbrooke in respect of the plasma donation as the body’s blood drives still experiencing considerable success.
“We hold an average of 80 blood drives per year in Sherbrooke and our goals are always achieved 100%,” says Ménard.
The Fair Plasmavie donors is located at 3200 King Street West. It required an investment of $ 2.34 million and received support from Sherbrooke Innopole.
The annual target is to reach 20 000 donations in Sherbrooke, to allow patients to obtain medicines produced with the collected plasma.
