(Quebec) Three children aged 14 months, 4 years and 6 years, whose custody was recently entrusted to their grandparents by a judge of the Youth Division, were abducted by their parents Sunday morning in Lévis, and found 527 kilometers away, in Ontario.
The three children were living with their grandparents since mid-September, according to the Police Department of the City of Lévis (SPVL), under an order issued by a judge on the recommendation of the Security Directorate of the Youth (DPJ).
Parents, a couple in their thirties, however, had the right to occasional visits. That’s what they should do on Sunday morning on the occasion of an apple output with the three brats. “They had to go apple in the morning and be back among grandparents dinner time. Around 15h, we received a report because they had not returned, “said Patrick Martel, spokesman SPVL Monday.
An investigation was quickly launched and SPVL appealed to other police forces to intercept the parents if they were traced.
To the west of Ottawa
The couple was finally insight with their three children in Ontario Sunday night. Ontario Provincial Police officers have arrested them in Renfrew, municipality located west of Ottawa, 527 km of Lévis (5h30 drive).
“Children have been supported by Ontario social services. They should contact the DPJ so that children can return to the grandparents, “said Mr. Martel.
As for the parents, they had to appear before a judge Monday, but the SPVL was not able to say whether the hearing would take place in Ontario. They could face charges of child abduction and breaking of a custody order.
