Travelers sign a feat in Three Rivers

yan-eric-tremblay-ete-tresTravelers managed a first feat Monday night in Trois-Rivieres. They surprised the powerful Trois-Rivieres Aigles by 5-4, so to take a 1-0 lead in the eighth series finale Junior League baseball elite of Quebec.

The feat is even more noteworthy since Saguenay failed to beat Trois-Rivières in six games this season, in addition to two defeats suffered during the preseason. Let’s say the moment was well chosen to end this ugly sequence. The victory was brought to Record Yan-Eric Tremblay, who has allowed only one earned run in six innings on eight hits.

The three of five series continues Tuesday night at the Stade Richard Desmeules, with the presentation of the second duel from 19.30. Derek side will have the opportunity to push the champions of the Sun Life Financial division in the cables by initiating the mound.

“It’s good for our confidence and it proves we can play against them, summed up the coach of the victors, Martin Pouliot. It’ll be a good match tomorrow (Tuesday) and I hope we will be able to enjoy our crowd. In recent years, instead of using the support of the spectators, it was rather crushed. This is not how we should see things. Do not be afraid to make mistakes and try things. You have to use the energy of the crowd in the right way. ”

Good start

Travelers began dating a bang by registering three points from their first turn at bat. The first three riders went on the aims and John Leblanc Raphael produced the first point by getting a base on balls. Samuel Sirois-Paradis and Jean-Michel Acquin chained with simple, each producing a point.

Philippe Saad faced his former teammates and boiling pitcher would certainly want a better scenario. The veteran of 22 years was in office for five innings, in which he gave five points, four earned, on seven hits.

“I talked to (Christopher) Stanford about the possibility of putting the third or fourth in the batting order, but I decided to let him in the front row because I wanted it begins in force stated Martin Pouliot. I did not want Saad starts and we removed one or two guys and it starts. After Stanford, Simon Tremblay filed cushioning and Saad, which is not good defensively, hesitated. The round is open and that set the tone. ”

Acquin produced a second point in the third, before Simon Tremblay pushes Jacob Theriault at the plate with an optional in the fourth inning. Stanford, however, was pinned by wanting to steal third base, which ended the threat. The score was now 5-0 in favor of the visitors and all bathed in oil.

The Eagles have had their best moments in the fourth inning with a push three runs on two hits and an error. Travelers were able to limit the damage until the end of the seventh, as the situation has seriously bodied. Came in relief of Yan-Éric Tremblay, Gabriel Côté had to deal with the first two goals occupied with one out. The pitcher has dropped the ball by reaching Ismael Ballard. Side was then able to get the second out, before giving way to Christopher Stanford. This made things exciting by providing a walk with the bases loaded. At 5-4 for travelers, Simon Loranger was removed three strikes to end this crazy late game. A total of seven batters marched to the plate in the seventh.

Despite this first win, Martin Pouliot believes that his flock are able to offer a performance even more convincingly in several aspects.

“We missed some running games, either amortized missed sacrifices or riders who were sleeping on the aims, observed Pouliot. To beat Trois-Rivieres, you must be on the check. Tuesday, he must play better again and we need all we ask is executed to perfection. We leave here with a big win and it feels good to have them finally beaten. The game plan remains to stay as long as possible in the game. The more we succeed in doing so, more sticks of Three Rivers will be heavy hitters. A five series is short. ”
