Two western beaches on the island were closed Tuesday by the City of Montreal because they were deemed unsuitable for swimming by the Ministry of Environment.
This decision affects beaches of the nature park of Cap-Saint-Jacques, in the borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro and the nature park of the Bois-de-l’Ile-Bizard. Last Monday, performing a test, the inspectors noted too high fecal coliform in the water, probably caused by heavy rains in recent days.
New tests will be conducted on Thursday and the results will be announced the next day. Until the water quality is restored, the two beaches will remain closed. However, both of the West of the island nature parks remain open for other usual activities.
