Revenu Quebec announced Wednesday the filing of charges against 232 the Joachino and Jovadi Napoleon brothers, Laval and Montreal respectively, in respect of alleged tax evasion.
Minimum fines totaling nearly 1.4 million are claimed for offenses related to a fraudulent scheme involving several companies and sole proprietorships.
The two men are accused of having produced false tax returns and have improperly claimed false tax input credits, and false tax refund on inputs. The charges stem trademarks of searches carried out in September 2014 by Revenu Québec.
Joachino Napoleon is covered by 211 counts, while his brother Jovadi faces 21 counts.
The defendants face fines but also jail sentences of up to two years.
