Under the sign of novelty

assurance-lacThe third edition of Bicycle Show the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean will take place under the sign of novelty, 16 and 17 April.

First, it changes its name. We must now speak of the Bicycle Show and running Promutuel since this component, after a successful trial in 2015, was officially added.

The event also changed location and dates. The next edition will be presented to shed the Port area of ​​Chicoutimi, two weeks earlier than the last. The new location is larger than the previous (more than 16,000 square feet), which will accommodate even more exhibitors (75 are expected) and introduce new activities.

To meet demand, the show now has its own website where interested parties may obtain particular information and to purchase their passes to attend the event. The logo of the show has also been redone.

In addition to discovering the products offered by various exhibitors, visitors can attend lectures and demonstrations. Promoter of the show, Jean-François Brassard notes that programming able to respond to both cyclists and running enthusiasts was prepared. It includes topics ranging from the winter training for the Boston Marathon (Hervé Stecq), injuries and overtraining (Michel Rivest), the formatting (Julie Marchand), the ultracyclisme (Jessica Belisle), the bike trips for 50 years and over (Patrice Saint-Pierre), hydration for athletes (Line Tremblay) and the Olympic experience (Philippe Gagnon).

Head of Sports Excellence at the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi, it accepted the title of spokesperson for the event. He explained that at least two reasons prompted him to respond positively to the invitation of the promoter. Initially, the idea of ​​a bike show in the region pleases him since the first edition because cyclists (and now the runners) no longer have to cross the Laurentians Wildlife Reserve to discover new. Moreover, cycling is a sport that meets their personal limits and running is a world expanding.

Among the activities included in the schedule of the show, we also note aerobatic demonstrations of BMX by Robby and Maxime Compartino brothers, a fashion show, the Kangoo Jump, the spinning and the launch of the campaign “Let’s Bicycle friendly”.

Ultracyclisme a 12-hour race will also be presented during the show. Organised by Sylvain Grenier, it will run on a loop of 29 km consisting mainly of Rang Saint-Martin and the Boulevard Saint-Jean-Baptiste. By the way, it will not be compulsory to drive for 12 hours to register. Cyclists will not want to complete the loop once or twice will also participate.
