Amnesty International has called the countries-leaders by the number of executions

Over the past year the number of death sentences and executions in the world declined. This is stated in the published global report on the death penalty in 2017, the human rights organization Amnesty International, UNIAN reports.
The document States that in 2017, the organization has recorded 993 penalty, which is 4% lower than a year earlier and 39% less than in 2015.
The organization stressed that in the preparation of the report were not taken into account the data for China, since Beijing to classify information on the death penalty. However, according to the UN, China is one of the leading countries in the number of death sentences.
First place in number of executions took Iran and Saudi Arabia. In General, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Pakistan has spent more than 84% of the executions in the world last year. In the Iran-was 507 executions, accounting for 51% of the total.
Among the methods, which is the penalty, the most popular are beheading, hanging, lethal injection and shooting.
However, note that in Africa there have been positive steps in the fight for the abolition of the death penalty. However, “the alarming trends still prevalent, as many countries continue to violate international law.”
