By 2020 the portholes of the ISS will protect Tomsk nano

By 2020 the portholes of the ISS will protect from meteorites using nano coatings, patented physics of Tomsk Polytechnic University. This will make the experiment, “Peresvet”.

The project “Peresvet”, which in 2018-2020 directly to the ISS will examine the regenerative capabilities of the new cover is OK. TPU received the terms of reference.

In the “Peresvet” will increase the strength of the Windows and solar panels of the ISS . They will cover the material of the plates thickness of 0.1 mm, which will retain the transparency of the glass, protecting it from high-speed space debris. The inventors reported that coating dampens the energy of impact several layers of the material dissipate it over the entire surface of the glass. This will allow to avoid the formation of craters for potholes.

The technology was tested, it was patented in 2015. In 2018 a sample cover sent to RSC “Energia”. Tomsk could become the supplier of glass for the Russian spacecraft.
