The Montreal Canadiens concluded a three-year deal with young defender Victor Mete.
Mete, 18, was a fourth-round pick of the Canadian – 100th overall – in the 2016 draft.
He has scored 44 points (15-29-44) in 50 games this season with the London Knights, in the OHL, leading the team’s defenders for goals (tied for sixth Of the OHL) and points. He also scored five of his power-play goals and added six victorious goals.
Mete, a native of Toronto, has scored 105 points (30 goals, 75 assists) in 179 regular season games since starting his junior career in 2014-15.
Winner of the Memorial Cup in 2016 with the Knights, he added 21 points (six goals, 15 assists) in 30 playoff games.
