September 10 at the age of 79 years has died the Soviet and Ukrainian artist Vasily Gurin. This was reported by relatives of the artist in Facebook.
“Today we lost the oldest family member, father, grandfather, great-grandfather. The man who inspired with his talent and incredible passion for life, passion for work and health,” wrote the grandson of the painter Daniel Gurin in the social network.
Vasily Gurin known for his easel landscapes, portraits and still lifes. “Landscape artist reveal the ability to convincingly play a unique variety of beauty of Ukraine. In the heart of his work – the ratio of the saturated, turbulent picturesque composition, which is subordinated to the clear intent,” he wrote on his paintings art.
In 1992, Vasily Gurin received the title of people’s artist, and since 1997 has been a member of the Academy of arts of Ukraine. In 1998 he was awarded the order “For merits” III degree. Also Gurin was a member of the National Union of artists of Ukraine and head of Kyiv organization of National Union of artists of Ukraine.
Since 1969 he has taught at the National Academy of fine art and architecture. In 1987 he became Professor, and from 1989 — head of the Department of painting and composition. Since 1993 he was head of the educational-creative Studio of easel painting.
