In the European Parliament made an important addition to the conditions of granting Ukraine macro-financial assistance.
The European Parliament voted in favor of granting Ukraine macro-financial assistance. This was reported in his Twitter correspondent of “Radio Liberty” in Brussels Ricard Jozwiak.
We are talking about financial assistance to 1 billion euros. It will be provided to Ukraine in two tranches: the first in the second half of 2018, the second – in the first half of 2019. But there is one “but”. Voting for the allocation of financial macropomum Ukraine, MEPs put forward a condition.
The foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament voted for granting macro-financial assistance to Ukraine, but added an amendment that “the composition of the Central election Commission of Ukraine reflects the political balance, representing all relevant political forces, especially those represented in the Verkhovna Rada”, – wrote Jozwiak.
Parliamentarians plan to reformat the CEC on may 17. On Thursday in the Verkhovna Rada is expected the dismissal of 13 of the 15 members of the CEC, whose term of office expired 2 years ago, and to elect the successors. As of may 16, even the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andrew Parubiy could not argue, and will eventually staffing the vote.
– If all factions (after political consultations, – ed.) will give a positive conclusion on Thursday it will be one of the key issues, – said Parubiy.
If the political consultations will be successful, before deputies there, another dilemma. President Petro Poroshenko submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of 14 candidates for the post of CEC members. A vacant place is 13! The speaker Parubiy in a recent interview said that “weed out” the one “extra” candidate will be by preferential voting. Who of 14 the candidates gets the least votes, who will remain behind.
Representatives of the faction “Fatherland” believe that the “extra” will be their man and that in the end the future composition of the CEC will be divided between the PPO and “popular front”. In “the Oppositional block” has already put the legitimacy of the updated CEC questioned. In the future the composition of the CEC is not a single representative. And a violation of the laws and international obligations of Ukraine.
So, it is possible to either Ukraine will remain without EU macro-financial assistance, or you will have to hold new consultations on political candidates to the CEC, taking into account the wishes of the Opposition bloc.
