Parliament Commissioner for human rights Lyudmila Denisova has carried out a monitoring visit to the Odessa Agency of execution of punishments (No. 21), which identified a number of problems. About the Ombudsman wrote on his page in Facebook.
So, in areas where prisoners are kept, there is mildew on the walls, and the ventilation is almost not working.
“The situation is getting worse, when the prisoners in the cells dry your washed things. I have instructed the prison administration to solve the issue with ventilation. Moreover, the chambers themselves a lot of garbage, you can’t turn the camera in the landfill. I was promised that by September will be audited cameras and all the garbage will be taken”, – said Denisov.
The Ombudsman also noted the inadequate provision of educational establishments on the territory of the institution:
“I saw a school where children are engaged, saw very old books. Prison staff told me that teachers bring their books and do not leave their”, – said Denisova.
In turn, the personnel of the penitentiary institution said that they do refurbishing and equipping of mother and child.
“We will monitor how our recommendations are implemented, the situation will keep the control”, – said Denisov.
