President of Estonia Toomas Hendrik Ilves said that “Russia must plead Ukrainian side of the conflict and take real steps to de-escalation of the crisis.”
This statement Ilves made at a press conference in Tallinn after a meeting with President Barack Obama.
Obama, in turn, assured the permanence of Estonia in American commitments to ensure the safety and protection from threats to its NATO partners.
He noted that Russian aggression towards Ukraine and its role in the events of the Donbas makes it possible to realize the importance of maintaining and strengthening the defense of NATO.
Barack Obama’s visit to Estonia on the eve of the summit organized by the Alliance. After President Ilves in the United States is scheduled to meet with colleagues from Lithuania and Latvia.
