Respond to the request of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkina military assistance impossible. This opinion was expressed in an interview with the Prime Minister of Finland Alexander Stubb, says site Yle.
“Of course, it’s impossible. Neither of NATO because the alliance provides military assistance only to its members, and is well known. Neither the EU, which lacks the capacity to provide such support,” – said Stubb.
According to him, the key issue is to ensure a firm truce. Are pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine for a ceasefire – a “question a thousand euros,” he said.
While negotiations on this issue have not yielded fruit, said Stubb.
Alexander Stubb said that Russia and the EU are experiencing a protracted period of fragile relations. 2008 war in Georgia and the crisis in Ukraine showed that Russia is ready to use force to back up its policies, he said.
Premier added that this situation must change.
“It’s in our best interest to walls between Russia and the West were as low as possible. This is what you need to aspire to, but unfortunately, we are still far from reaching this goal,” – he said.
