Fire in a residential building in Quebec city

QUEBEC – A fire broke out in a residential building, in the night from Wednesday to Thursday, in the borough of La Cité-Limoilou, Quebec city.

The fire originated around 2 p.m. at a room of this two-storey building located on the rue Saint-Adélard. The fire then spread to the roof.

Forty firefighters were needed to control the blaze, at around 3: 20 pm.

Residents of the eight homes have been evacuated and taken care of by the Red Cross.
A person had to be transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation, said Bill Noonan, spokesman for the Department of fire protection of the City of Quebec.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
