On the background of the controversy

Seth Meyers opened the ceremony by throwing jokes on the case, Weinstein, telling in particular that this is the first time in three months that the players will not be terrorized by hearing their name.

The host began his monologue by declaring: “good evening, ladies and the rest of the gentlemen!”

He mocked the producer of a fallen Harvey Weinstein, which has been accused by dozens of women harassment and sexual assault. Meyers noted the absence of Weinstein before you add, you will hear again in 20 years. It will then become “the first personality to be a hoot during a tribute to the dead”.

The joke was greeted by a few grunts in the room.

Meyers has also launched jokes on people by appointment while sending a few arrows at the president, Donald Trump.

A movement called Time’s Up was called the women to wear black during the ceremony, as an expression of solidarity with all victims of sexual misconduct.
