The Ukrainian Parliament adopted the law № 6243, which clarifies the article of the Criminal code on trafficking. Voted “for” the first 219 deputies, and the second time – 240 deputies.

According to the law, criminal liability shall entail trade, as well as the recruitment, transfer, concealment, transfer or receipt of a person, committed for the purpose of exploitation, using coercion, abduction, deception, blackmail, material or other dependence of the victim, his vulnerable state, or bribery of a third party which is in control of the victim to consent to its operation. The punishment remains deprivation of liberty for a term from 3 to 8 years.
The responsibility for these actions if they were made by the father, mother, adoptive parent, guardian or caregiver. Such a violation will be punished with imprisonment for the term from 8 till 15 years with confiscation of property or without it.
Clarified that the operation of this article refers, among other things – abortion, forced marriage, forced involvement in begging.
In addition, the responsibility for the described actions regardless of whether they were committed with the use of coercion, kidnapping, or bribery of a person who controls the victim.
The document aims to bring the provisions of the MCC in accordance with international standards.
The law will enter into force on the day following its official publication.
Recall, the Verkhovna Rada endorsed this document as a basis in the fall of 2017 229 votes of people’s deputies.
