If not continue the law on the special status of Donbass, Russia will have the opportunity to claim that Ukraine is not fulfilling the Minsk agreements. This opinion was expressed by the Minister for the temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons of Ukraine Vadym Chernysh, reports “Interfax-Ukraine”.
“I think otherwise (if not to continue the law – ed.) we will give Russia carte Blanche (and not only Russia), to say that Ukraine is not fulfilling the Minsk agreements. But in this document remain without attention many important points. We have again the attraction to the same law, though symbolic, which does not solve anything and only demonstrates. In fact, this law does not solve the problem, and one that was recently adopted (law “On peculiarities of state policy on ensuring state sovereignty of Ukraine on the temporarily occupied territories in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions”, – an edition), unfortunately, does not solve all the issues,” he said.
In addition, the Minister commented on the statement of deputies, asserting that the provisions of the law on the special status of the Donbass (if sustained) would be inconsistent with the current law on de-occupation.
“I didn’t see any contradictions. I really believe that the law on the restoration of state sovereignty in the Donbass does not negates the possibility of implementation of the Minsk agreements. In Russia it is manipulated, but when all international partners have seen the final text of the law, said no problem for the implementation of the Minsk agreements no. And according to the law on special order of local self-government, he was twice voted by the Parliament twice, and now, before the election, suddenly other opinions,” – said Vadim Chernysh.
Earlier, the US special envoy on Ukraine Kurt Volker said that Ukraine will be in a disadvantageous situation, if not prolong action of the law on the special status of Donbass. In his opinion, the law was passed, but no application of this law.
