The protesters took to the streets in pink t-shirts calling for the creation of a Catalan Republic. According to the organisers, the event was attended by 470 thousand people.
The head of Catalonia Kim Torr in his speech said that the main purpose of mass demonstrations should be the release of the leaders of the independence supporters, who are now under arrest.
“I will not accept the conviction, and we appeal to all free citizens – not take them,” he said.
The Torre noted that his government would not violate the law, releasing prisoners of supporters of independence of the prisons located in the territory of Catalonia and subordinate to the regional administration.
