On Nevsky Prospekt in St. Petersburg, about 15 activists took to the pickets to congratulate Ukraine on independence Day. About it reports Radio Freedom.
According to the organizer of the pickets, the activists of the St. Petersburg democratic movement “Solidarity” Olga Smirnova, the action is both anti-war and anti-Imperial character. The participants recalled the tragic events of 4 years ago, about Ilovaisk, which killed hundreds of Ukrainian military, the report said.
“Only on condition of repentance of the Russian society at the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, the next generations of Russian and Ukrainians will be able to establish friendly relations”, – said Olga Smirnova.
Activists have condemned the Russian annexation of Crimea and the military invasion of the Donbass, but negotiations on the release of Ukrainian political prisoners, participants of the picket called “cynical trading”. Activists gathered on Nevsky Prospekt, signatures greeting cards, then transfer them to the Consulate of Ukraine.
As reported by the media, some passers-by reacted to the aggressive pickets, there were two attacks on activists. Arrested two men – one attacker and one activist of “Solidarity”.
