In the Kiev region, a local resident attacked with a garden fork American Staffordshire Terrier. About it reports a press-service of the Kiev-Svyatoshinsky Prosecutor’s office.
“A local resident reported about suspicion of committing a crime under part 1 of article 299 (cruelty to animals) of the Criminal code of Ukraine, for willful cruelty to a dog of the breed American Staffordshire Terrier by applying it to multiple blows with a garden fork, the dog was injured”, – stated in the message.
In this article, the suspect can be arrested for up to 6 months or freedom for a period up to 3 years.
It is noted that pre-judicial investigation proceeds, and the case is on control at the local Prosecutor’s office.
We will remind that in June of 2018 in Ukraine entered into force the law on strengthening of responsibility for cruelty to animals. Under the law for cruelty to animals now can be imprisoned up to 8 years. The law also provides for a fine of from 3400 to 5100 UAH with confiscation of the pet if the pet owner is a threat to his life or health. For ill-treatment of two or more animals could face a fine from 5100 to 8500 UAH UAH or administrative arrest up to 15 days with confiscation of the animal if necessary.
