The U.S. postal service has unveiled a commemorative stamp with a picture of musician John Lennon, the Associated Press reports.
At the presentation, which was held in Central Park in new York, was attended by Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono and son Sean.
The postage stamp depicts the musician in the famous round glasses and tousled hair. This photo was taken by Bob Gruesom for the fifth solo album from Lennon, which was released in 1974. Gruen also attended the ceremony.
“I know father would be pleased that such a recognition – the postage stamp, officially. I think he would be as excited as me or mom,” said son Lennon.
The stamp series are available in different colors, and each of them has an autograph of the musician. Cost sheet of 16 stamps will cost $ 8.
Note that John Lennon was a stamp collector. In 2016, the personal stamp collection of Lennon, which he began collecting in childhood, was exhibited at the world exhibition brands in new York. Now they, along with his manuscripts and drawings are kept at the National postal Museum in Washington.
As previously reported, the designer has created a font based on the handwriting of John Lennon and Kurt Cobain.
