Famous American singer John legend won the Emmy award for participating in the filming of a television version of the musical “Jesus Christ superstar”.
As reported by Rolling Stone, the singer became the youngest ever winner of four prestigious awards: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony (EGOT).
With John Legendon over the project worked with the famous composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and playwright Tim rice, who also won the statuette “Emmy”.
We will add that John Stephens, aka John legend, has released his debut album in 2004. In addition to the Tonys and Emmy awards, he also won 10 Grammy awards in various nominations and the award “Oscar” for the song Glory for the film Selma.
The term EGOT stands for Emmy (TV award), Grammys (music awards), Oscar (film award), Tony (theatre award). The idea belongs to the star of “Miami Vice” Philip Michael Thomas: he wore on his chest a gold medallion engraved with this abbreviation and told everyone how he was going to win all four awards. He really didn’t work out – he was just nominated for a Golden globe.
Currently, only 15 celebrities enter the club of EGOT winners. In particular, Helen Hayes, Audrey Hepburn, Mel Brooks, Whoopi Goldberg and others.
As previously reported, Robert Lopez became the first person in history who twice compiled a collection of prestigious awards EGOT.
Recall that TV host Anthony Bourdain posthumously received six awards Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
