The Ukrainian side will soon send a note to Moscow of unwillingness to renew the Treaty of friendship. The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said during a meeting of the national security Council, the broadcast of which led the TV channel “112 Ukraine”.
“Regarding the reluctance of prolongation of the agreement on friendship with Russia. The results of the meeting of the national security Council will be the decision and instruction of the MFA in the shortest possible time to send a corresponding note to the Russian side. In addition, all relevant positions that need the messages, starting with the UN – I will use my visit to new York. Relevant international organizations will also be notified separately”, – said the President.
The Ukrainian head of state noted that the decision “is emotional and spontaneous, but a carefully considered and calculated”.
“We are implementing our strategy, which move in 2014, and terminate this agreement, and implement our direction into the Euro-Atlantic path. In article 6 of the said Treaty was veiled, and everything is trying to stop our direction. None of our Euro-Atlantic direction does not stop,” – said Poroshenko.
We will remind, head the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin said that the documents for the termination of the agreement with Russia is already prepared and in the near future they will be transferred for consideration.
Earlier the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko instructed the foreign Ministry to prepare for the rupture of the Treaty of friendship, cooperation and partnership between Russia and Ukraine.
The Treaty on friendship, cooperation and partnership between the Russian Federation and Ukraine was ratified by Verkhovna Rada in January 1998. The document enshrines the principles of strategic partnership, recognized the inviolability of existing borders, respect for territorial integrity and contained a mutual undertaking not to use their territory to the detriment of each other.
