Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko declared intention to return to politics after the presidential elections in 2019. He reported about it in interview “Censor. NO.”
“I believe that my political experience and the ability to say “no” (and if it is necessary, and much rougher) on all eight phones are needed here until after the presidential election. And after that, whatever the outcome, I intend to prepare and go in Ukrainian politics. I want to stress that whatever the outcome of the elections,” – said the Prosecutor General.
He added that he does not exclude the possibility of combining efforts with the current mayor of Kiev Vitali Klitschko: “I do Not exclude such variant. Yes, I do talk about the future of the parliamentary campaign with Klitschko. We are very good conversations. But not only with him.”
To note, elections of the President of Ukraine, according to the legislation, scheduled for 31 March 2019. Elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to be held on 27 October 2019.
In 2014 the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada, Lutsenko received the Deputy mandate from the party “Block of Petro Poroshenko” (No. 2). Since November 2014, he was the people’s Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine VIII convocation.
May 12, 2016 Lutsenko was appointed Prosecutor General of Ukraine. For this, the Verkhovna Rada urgently changed existing legislation that allowed Lutsenko to become attorney General.
