Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko said that during the reorganization of the Department of special investigations not to reduce any one position. “Yuriy Lutsenko stressed once again that neither the position of an investigator or Prosecutor had not been reduced, and Sergey Gorbatyuk will continue investigation of all the Affairs of the Maidan in the post of head of the Department of special investigations,” she says.
As a reminder, July 11, Lutsenko signed a decree on the elimination of four structural units of the GPU: the Department for investigation of particularly important cases in the field of Economics, Department of special investigation, Department of investigation of crimes committed by criminal organizations and the Management of procedural guidance in criminal proceedings the investigators control the investigation of crimes committed by criminal organizations. Instead, the attorney General’s office established the Office of special investigations as an independent structural unit with the same nominal size, and its management, composed of former Department of special investigation.
The former head of the Department of special investigations Sergey Gorbatyuk said that the order left him out of state, but Larisa Sargan explained that those who held positions in the abolished agencies, will occupy appropriate positions in the newly created, and Gorbatyuk thus will head the Office of special investigations.
Also during the meeting, Lutsenko said that the investigation in cases of shootings on the Maidan is almost complete.
