Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko said that “with impatience” waits for the verdict in the case of treason of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych. He said this in an interview with “Ukrainian truth”.
“And about the former. We have news. Mr. Azarov has already gone to court in absentia conviction, although who cares. What’s the news? I do not affect it, but with the impatience and all, waiting for the verdict of the Obolonsky court of Yanukovych,” – he said.
Lutsenko promised that the criminal cases against the former President will be much more than now. “Once the court decides on his guilt or innocence in the case of high treason, we evaluate his actions in the square. Then will come the turn of the so-called economic Affairs”, – said the Prosecutor.
Ex-President Yanukovych suspected of committing crimes under part 1 of article 111 (“high treason”), part 5 article 27, part 3 of article 110 (“Complicity in deliberate acts committed with the aim of changing the boundaries of the territory and the state border of Ukraine”) and part 5 article 27, part 2 of article 437 (“complicity in the waging of aggressive war”) the criminal code of Ukraine.
The indictment in the case of treason, the Main military office of public Prosecutor has transferred in court in March 2017. Yanukovych himself in court proceedings who is not involved on the territory of Ukraine is missing, hiding in Russia.
The prosecution asked for Yanukovych penalty of 15 years imprisonment.
