Lviv businessman stole 3 million hryvnia, replacing the train with a bag of money

Employees of Lychakiv police Department completed an investigation into theft of money from a 57-year-old local resident, the head of one of the enterprises of Lviv, which was made July 19. This reports the press service of the police region.

Law enforcement authorities established that the businessman had intended to transfer to Kiev train a significant amount of cash. His subordinates, a 31-year-old citizen of Lviv, on hearing this, together with his 68-year-old relative, who was also an employee of the company, has developed a plan to seize money.

“Both the morning of July 19 arrived at the train station, waited, when there will arrive the son of a businessman, and have tracked which car he will go. Then the eldest of the partners sat in the same train and on the way switched the bag with money, which was in the baggage compartment of the cabin. Leaving the station Pidzamche, an attacker called a taxi and went to the train station, where he was waiting for an accomplice,” he told police.

Stolen 2 million 955 thousand hryvnia, and they divided between them.

Both men reported about suspicion of committing a crime under part 5 of article 185 of the Criminal code of Ukraine (“Theft)”. The sanction of article prescribes punishment in the form of imprisonment for the term from seven till twelve years with confiscation of property. The indictment is sent to court.

Malefactors elected a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest.
