LONDON – Manchester City and Pep Guardiola finally sacred: winners Saturday, Tottenham 3-1, the Citizens have were crowned champions of England on Sunday thanks to the surprise defeat of Manchester United at Old Trafford against the red lantern West Bromwich 1-0.

The Citizens have managed the feat of being crowned after only 33 games, equalling the record of the first british division, previously held by… Manchester United since 2001.

There is no doubt that this domination without sharing, despite the end of the season a little brackish after the premature exit in the champions League, class United of Catalan among the legends, such as the “Invincibles” unbeaten Arsenal 2003-2004 or the Red Devils to the treble-winners of 1999.

The fifth title City, the third since 2012, has therefore prematurely end the suspense, even if Guardiola would have probably preferred to the award at the derby last weekend, and as soon as the second season of Guardiola at the club. If the first year had ended without a trophy and in the third place, the version 2017-2018, already with a League Cup in his pocket, is preparing to fight a certain number of records domestic.

With still five games to play and already 87 points, they did more than eight units up a notch to beat the 95 of Chelsea in 2004-2005. With 28 victories, they can also match or exceed the 30 success of the Blues last season.
