NASCAR: Donald Theetge aims Daytona to finish his career

More than ever, Donald Theetge is contemplating retirement. In the optical finish his career in style on the prestigious oval of Daytona, in 2020, the pilot of Boischatel will be another exit in the second division of the NASCAR series, taking the start of the event in Las Vegas, on march 2.

Theetge will roll in one of the cars from team DGM Racing’s Mario Gosselin during this test series Xfinity in the capital of the game. It will be a first for him on a track a mile and a half then he got the permit for this distance at the end of the year 2018.

“This was not my dream, but the doors open in front of me. I was looking at how I could finish my career on the positive side. For that, I have to go through the 1.5-mile to get my license 2.5. I want to finish on the big circuit Daytona.

“I’m still competitive, but until when. I want to maybe move on to something else. And I believe that this would be something done to get my license about 2.5 miles, especially going up against professionals so that we, we do it for the fun of it”, he insisted, adding that he expected to confirm his return to the grind-canadian NASCAR in a few weeks with the team 22 Racing.

A top 25 in the pattern

In the past year, the Quebecer had participated in two events in the antechamber of the main series of the stock-car american at Loudon and Phoenix. Theetge has no intention of simply playing tourists in Las Vegas, far from it.

“I need to do my job without harm to anyone, as there are stables which are fighting for the big money and we want to keep our place. To finish in the top 20, 25, this would be fun. It is a track on which I never participated. The experience of Mario is going to help me and we want to bring the car back in one piece.”
