Other electric buses? With grants, says Transdev

Transdev wishes to grow its fleet of electric school buses at the end of this first season of use in the Eastern Townships. But everything will depend on the grants that will be granted by the governmental bodies in the future.

“Everything was very well,” insists Marie-France Laurin, director of the public transport company. “The children liked it because it makes no noise when the bus is running. ”

“We would like to have more, but we have to wait for the subsidy programs, because it is not profitable. Electric buses are not competitive on the market today. ”

Two other electric school buses have traveled the territory of Sherbrooke and the Hauts-Cantons since last January. The vehicles with the blue front bumper came from the Compagnie Électrique Lion in Saint-Jérôme.

Transdev Canada had acquired three school buses and two of these vehicles were assigned to the Estrie territory.

Transdev is a Quebec transportation multinational company headquartered in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
