Near the coast of Spain on Saturday, August 4, saved almost 400 refugees who tried to cross into the country from Morocco. This was reported by the rescue service of Spain, reports Reuters.
According to rescuers, on Saturday in the Strait of Gibraltar and Alborán sea 9 boats took 395 people. Later a small boat was rescued with two other refugees.
With the beginning of 2018, Spain has already registered 21 thousand refugees – more than for all of 2017, according to the international organization for migration. Prior to this, the most popular route of the migrants were crossing from Libya to Italy.
Previously, Italy declared that will not take into their ports the ships with the rescued refugees.
