In Ukraine today there is no state programme for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. To the needs of adults with cancer, the government has allocated only 30% of the required funding. This was announced by MP, Chairman of the parliamentary Committee on health Olga Bogomolets on his page in Facebook.
According to her, in recent years Ukraine has significantly worsened the problem of the proliferation of cancer, and each year the number of cancer patients will grow. She also noted that today, cancer centers and dispensaries is almost exhausted and unable to fully help patients.
“There is no state programme for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer, because once the current team of the Ministry of health abolished it – the new designed was not. Accordingly, we have no strategy against cancer, and its spread becomes uncontrollable. Catastrophic underfunding of the sector, the needs of adults with cancer, the government spends only 30% of the required amount, the treatment of children with cancer – only about 50%,” – said Bohomolets.
Note that the corresponding statement the Deputy made on shares at the opening of the landscape Park on the territory of CMKOS, which was attended by patients, representatives of public organizations and oncologists.
The participants adopted a Memorandum of demands to the authorities regarding 100% provide funding for cancer patients in Ukraine, the introduction of new practices of treating cancer, including bone marrow transplantation, and the introduction of compulsory state health insurance.
Olga Bogomolets noted that this Memorandum is open for signing by doctors, patients, public figures and simply not indifferent people. She added that a landscaped Park created in gratitude to physicians for their professionalism and humanity in dealing with the terrible disease from those they were able to heal and return to normal life.
