President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko instructed the foreign Ministry to prepare for the rupture of the Treaty of friendship, cooperation and partnership between Russia and Ukraine. He stated this during a meeting with heads of foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine. The broadcast led the TV channel “112 Ukraine”.
“Finally today we have come sufficiently trained and legally protected to the next step: termination of the Treaty of friendship, cooperation and partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, which is the fault of Moscow has already become an anachronism. In the near future I expect the foreign Ministry the documents required to initiate this process,” he said.
Note that the Treaty on friendship, cooperation and partnership between the Russian Federation and Ukraine was ratified by Verkhovna Rada in January 1998.
The document enshrines the principles of strategic partnership, the recognition of the inviolability of existing borders, respect for territorial integrity and mutual commitment not to use their territory to the detriment of each other.
Earlier, Poroshenko instructed the national security Council and the foreign Ministry to develop proposals to ensure the interests of Ukraine in the Azov sea.
