President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko offered until 30 September to notify Russia about the termination of the Treaty of friendship and cooperation. About this Poroshenko said at a meeting with leaders of factions and groups of the Verkhovna Rada, which was broadcast channel “112 Ukraine”.

“I plan to soon about this, once the proposals by the Ministry of foreign Affairs to hold a meeting of the national security Council and a term until 30 September to send his signature message of the Russian Federation about the non-renewal of validity of this agreement. It does not require a vote in Parliament, but of course, I’d like to spend on this issue appropriate advice to consider the position, the opinion of the Parliament”, – said Poroshenko.

Poroshenko said that a friendship Treaty is not terminated, and “shall cease to have effect in connection with non-renewal”.

“I want to make some comments and clarity from the perspective of the non-renewal of a large contract with Russia on friendship and cooperation. Stress that it is not broken, because it is a complicated procedure. He is terminated in connection with the non-renewal,” – said Poroshenko.

Recall that the foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin said that the documents for the termination of the agreement with Russia is already prepared and in the near future they will be transferred for consideration.

Earlier the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko instructed the foreign Ministry to prepare for the rupture of the Treaty of friendship, cooperation and partnership between Russia and Ukraine.

The Treaty on friendship, cooperation and partnership between the Russian Federation and Ukraine was ratified by Verkhovna Rada in January 1998. The document enshrines the principles of strategic partnership, the recognition of the inviolability of existing borders, respect for territorial integrity and mutual commitment not to use their territory to the detriment of each other.
