“Our land” initiate the revision of the Antimonopoly Committee on the food market, and calls on the government to return the state regulation of prices for socially important products. This was stated today by the people’s Deputy from party “Our land” Sergey Shakhov.
According to him, now the food market is dominated by agricultural monopolies in the inaction of the government.
“First, the government abolished price controls on socially important products. And then naturally lost the control over the entire market of Ukrainian food. Now the food prices in Ukraine are almost twice higher than in neighboring Poland. In fact Ukrainians do not eat, while spend on food, according to the state statistics service, half their income. “Our land” initiate the revision of the Antimonopoly Committee on the food market, and calls on the government to return state control over prices for socially important products”, – said Sergey Shakhov.
He compared prices in Poland and Ukraine. So, Polish the milk is from 12 to 16 UAH/liter, and pork shoulder 67 UAH/kg. In Ukraine, these same products are 23-28 UAH/liter and 120 UAH/kg, respectively. The minimum wage in Poland amounts to 16 300 thousand UAH, and in Ukraine 3 723 UAH.
MP from the “Our region”, explained that the market of Ukrainian food seized agrarian oligarchs who dictate monopoly prices.
“Recently, chicken meat was one of the most affordable quality and price. Today about 60 percent of the chicken market is monopolized by the agricultural oligarchy, which receives annual state aid in several billion hryvnia. The prices for chicken in Ukraine is significantly higher than in the same Poland, and the state statistics service says about the low level of inflation in the country”, – said Sergey Shakhov
He voiced the position of the party “Our land”, which considers that the authorities should immediately deal with the food monopolies, establish order in pricing.
“Food becomes unavailable to the majority of Ukrainians. Deputies from the party appealed to the Antimonopoly Committee on the validation of the food market, and the government must immediately restore the state control over prices for socially important products”, – summed up Sergey Shakhov.
Recall that according to the state statistics service, in Ukraine the consumer prices since the beginning of the year increased by 3.6%.
