The Verkhovna Rada rejected the bill No. 8181, which could allow student and student athletic unions to represent Ukraine in international competitions and receive funding from the state budget. In the hall there were not enough votes to send the document back for revision also failed.

According to the explanatory Memorandum, the sports student Union of Ukraine initiated holding in 2021 and 2023 in Ukraine, the world Universiade is an international sports competition among students aged 18 to 28 years. However, the Union must sign a contract and provide certain guarantees for infrastructure, of financial security the reasonable cost of security for the participants.
The project envisages amendments to the law “On physical culture and sports”, according to which the sports student Union of Ukraine and the sports Union of students of Ukraine have the right to represent the state in international competitions and receive funding in accordance with the law.
