The court found him guilty of creating in the Crimea of the terrorist community and guide them, as well as illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, two terrorist acts and the preparation of another attack. Sentsov pleaded not guilty.

May 14, 2018, the Director announced an indefinite hunger strike. The Director does not eat anything for 89 days. The main requirement – the release 64 of Ukrainian political prisoners, themselves in this list it is not included.

In early August Sentsov wrote his sister that “the end is nigh, and this is not about liberation”. He barely gets out of bed and they won’t deliver the letters.
