For the period from January to September 2018 NBU disposed of the worn banknotes to the amount of 34,216 billion. This was reported by the press service of the national Bank, transfer “Ukrainian news”.
It is reported that the number of worn banknotes was reduced by 18.4% compared to the same period of 2017. All were destroyed 496,4 million pieces of banknotes.
In particular, it has been disposed of 52.5 million banknotes in denominations of 1 hryvnia, 30.7 million – 2 hryvnia, 47.4 million – the face value of UAH 5, for 59.9 million shares – 10 UAH. Banknotes face value of 20 hryvnia disposed of 48.6 million units, 50 hryvnia – us $ 84.1 million units, of 100 UAH is 92.3 million, UAH 200 – 72,1 million Banknotes of 500 hryvnia disposed of 8.9 million pieces.
Banknote recycling is a shredding of banknotes, after which the crushed mass is then pressed into briquettes or Packed in sacks and transferred to the solid waste landfills where they are ultimately disposed of by specialized companies which have concluded with the NBU a relevant contract.
We remind, in July in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Krivoy Rog, near the highway were found a few dozen bags with shredded banknotes. According to the tags, the bags belonged to the NBU.
